1. I am not a lifelong politician. I am not running to get a job; I am running to create jobs. I do not believe serving in the Senate is a political game. I believe it is public service.
2. I will donate my first year salary to charity. I am not going into the Senate to collect a government paycheck or try to increase politician salaries, we have had too much of that.
3. I know how to create jobs and grow our economy. I have done it. I am a successful entrepreneur and small businessman. I have owned businesses in real estate, the practice of law, with the TV/film industry trying to leverage the advantages of our area, and I am the co-owner of Athletic Republic, a training facility for area youth and athletes. I have a plan to create jobs using tax incentives, not government hand-outs.
4. I am conservative and I always have been. I am pro-life and support the traditional definition of marriage. I am pro-family and believe in strengthening the family. My wife of over 27 years, Elizabeth, and I have two daughters, Lauren and Madison. We are active members of First West Baptist Church.
5. I oppose wasteful government spending and high taxes. I believe we must actively look for and eliminate government waste that causes high taxes. Our senior citizens and families cannot afford higher taxes.
6. I believe in strongly enforcing ethics rules against politicians. For the past 10 years, I have served as Ethical Chairman for the Fourth Judicial District Bar Association of Louisiana. You can count on me to serve our District with commitment and integrity. I will not weaken Louisiana ethics laws, I will strengthen them.
7. I believe parents should have a choice in the education of their children. I hold a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from ULM and a Juris Doctorate from Tulane. We need vocational technical high schools where students will graduate with not only a full high school degree with all core courses but also a stackable technical degree that will allow them to be immediately employable in trained skills areas like electricians, plumbers, car mechanics, etc. This will give students the incentive to stay in school. To create jobs for our graduates, we need to match skill sets needed with education opportunities in our region.
8. I believe in volunteering and serving in our community. I am the main sponsor for Coats for the Community and the Toy Drive. I also recently sponsored a Council on Aging fan drive. I also support the following causes: ARCO, Med Camps of Louisiana, Mission of Mercy, Battle of the Badges, Municipal Police Officers Association, Monroe Police Canine Association, ULM Foundation, ULM Athletics Association, American Veterans, American War Veterans, Camp Quality, Cerebral Palsy of Louisiana, Covenant House, Children Charities, Race for the Cure, Mercy Ministries, West Ouachita Seniors, Humane Society, Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter, The Jake Owen Rayborn Foundation,MDA, United Way, March of Dimes, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Red Mass Society, Boo on the Bayou, Wall of Tolerance, Brothers United, Boy Scouts of Louisiana, Special Olympics, Louisiana Rippers, Sober Nest Recovery, Junior Charity League, Dixie Softball, Twin City Stars, AAU Basketball, and The Ronald McDonald House.
9. I have creative ideas and will bring new energy to fighting for our region. Decades-long politicians and those living off government payrolls have not solved our problems, we need a new direction.
10. I will always be accessible to you. I know I am here to serve the community. The community is not here to serve me. I want to be your Senator so I can work for you.
